This Schoolteacher Built Her Offgrid, 100% Sustainable Tiny Home With No Experience

This Schoolteacher built her off-grid, 100% sustainable tiny home with no experience! You do not need to be a carpenter to build your own home. This woman has proven that. She has managed to live the dream of being mortgage and bill free and also sustainable. She was only 32 years old when she turned this possibility into a reality.

Of course it wasnt easy. She had to learn how to use tools she had never used before and call in the help of professionals when needed. But she has shown us all that with hard work and perseverance anyone can build their own home and not carry a mortgage. She started with a 24 trailer and set to work converting it into her home. She completed the majority of the work herself, paying professionals for things like the chimney and electrical. How did she do it, one step at a time! She moved in before it was completely finished and put the finishing touches on while living in it.

There are many interesting and unique features to the home. A barrel is used for the shower. Ceiling tiles for the heat shield for the wood stove that keeps the tiny home toasty warm in the winter. It is much easier to keep a small space warm than a large one. She installed the bamboo floor herself and the pine boards on the ceiling and walls. There is a simple composting toilet and a gray water system to ensure nothing is wasted. She collects rainwater and has a hand pump installed to bring it into the house. And two solar panels provide all the electricity she needs. There is plenty of storage room in the house for all of the things she needs. A tiny home can still have space it just needs to be well thought out. There are lots of shelves and the fireplace is on a floating shelf so there is room underneath to store firewood and newspaper.

And thats not all, she is still a teacher and holds a job. Often we think that this lifestyle is only possible without having a job. That it is not conceivable to meld off grid living with going to work every day. But she still manages to get everything done at home, even though when she moved in the place was not completely finished.
